Jay Raj Fine Papers, along with its partners Galgo Fine Papers, unveiled the tenth edition of the Galgo calendar for the year April 2019 to March 2020 at the Nehru Centre in Mumbai, on 12 April 2019.
Jay Raj and Galgo have been associated with each other for more than 35 years. Jay Raj is the channel partner for Galgo in the western region of India.
This edition of the Galgo calendar is based on the theme ‘Maestros of Indian classical music’ that comprises of a few legendary Indian classical names such as Ravi Shankar, Bhimsen Joshi, Zakir Hussain, and MS Subbulakshmi, amongst others.
Subodh Jain of Galgo Fine Papers said, “By launching the Galgo calendars since the last 10 years, we have been able to invite people from different spectrums which include the printing fraternity, corporate, and the design industry. Also, the constant support of our customers has been a key motivating factor for us to host this event regularly.“
The calendar has used the newly launched Eco evolution 270-gsm paper for the main pages and leathack black-120-gsm paper for the picture gallery page.
Jain said, “Every year Galgo tries to add new fine paper products under its portfolio. In order to be in the fine paper industry, it is essential to add a new range of papers at regular intervals.”
Galgo had launched the Eco-evolution rough gloss board and two other economical boards aimed at the packaging industry, in the year 2018.
Hiren Karia of Jay Raj believes that the introductions of Eco-evolution and Primo Plus have taken a good market share of the rough gloss paper market.
Jain claims that Galgo is the first company to be FSC® certified in the segment of fine papers and his company follows the high quality and honest pricing policy. “Every day we dedicate our time to research and decide on what’s best price and quality we can offer to our customers.”
Iris, Rendezvous and Glode are the flagship products of Jay Raj and Galgo. “These products have helped us garner more than 40% share of fine paper market in India, with an approximate annual paper consumption of 9000-10,000 tonnes per annum,” added Jain.
Few of the top names in its clientele include Jak Printers, Silverpoint Press and Pragati Offset, amongst others.

Sharing his views on the fine paper market scenario, Jain said, “I think this market is growing at the pace of 20 to 30% every year. The digital print demand in fine papers is increasing at a steady rate but the cut-sheet papers are still at a nascent stage.”
Karia said, “Looking forward, we want to establish ourselves in the luxury packaging market by the introduction of new colour papers and a range of binding materials. We will also be introducing FSC® certified art papers to cater to environment-conscious consumers. and also provide coaster Boards from Germany.”
At the event, Galgo showcased all the previous nine editions of its calendar. Some of the prominent personalities featured in the previous Galgo calendars include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amitabh Bachchan, Virat Kohli, and Mukesh Ambani, amongst others.
